Comparing choreography & psychology
When we contrast Choreography and Psychology we have to know that in both careers we need to control our thoughts, feelings, opinions and activities. Choreography is a very challenging and complex career of psychological science; it needs qualities of human behavior like observation, measurements and analysis.
For example: the cognition is non-linear; it needs the memory for learning and developing movements. For Choreography we need education through our body and movement, this involves perceptive and motive aspects, and many other aspects like communicative, expressive and cognitive, so with Corporal Expression you will get better and you will acquire Psychological, Organic and Body compensations.
We would study Choreography (Dance) in the University of Florida located in Gainesville because this university has a convenience with the College of fine arts to carry out a program/system called "School of theatre+dance". This program is way better from others because the University of Florida supports arts in all the different types, like acting, music, design, scenery, and others, giving a formal degree in all the aspects of dance. In other words, if we study at this university we would graduate professional choreographesr and dancers with a degree that certificates what we studied.
Psychology is the study of the human thoughts, emotions and behavior. Someone who is studying this discipline is called a Psychologist and he or she can choose the area of specialization. Most popular specialization areas are Clinical, Counseling and School Psychology. Psychologists have a variety of options depending on where they live; they can have a doctoral degree, a PhD and a PsyD.
We would like to study Psychology in Columbia University, in New York because it has accreditations, we could graduate with honor and there are many seminars about cognitive and human behavior.
Both possible universities we have chosen to study these careers are located in the United States because this country, different from our native country Colombia gives bachelors more working opportunities. In the US the big advantage is that as a developed country with also a better education it give people support in what is known as "new careers" or different studies from the traditional careers, as it is choreography. We could have chose to study psychology in other country but first, here in Colombia and many other latin and western countries psychology is not consider an important career and also because as I said before, the working opportunity in other countries is lower than the ones in North America. We could have chose Canada also but in the US we have the advantage of the cost of living. Living in the US is cheaper than living in Canada and even more when you are a student.
